How to download your mic's calibration file
A calibration file describes how your microphone hears: where it reads bright, where it reads dull. Clearroom subtracts the mic and measures only the room. Most measurement mics are measured one by one at the factory, and the maker keeps your file online.

- Find the serial number: seven digits, printed on the mic body.
- Open the miniDSP UMIK-1 page and find Unique Calibration File Download. Type the serial as three digits, a dash, four:
700-1234. Press Submit. - Two files download: one named for your serial, one with
_90degin the name.

The XREF20 and the SoundID Reference mic. Every unit is measured individually.
- Find the Microphone ID: a six-digit code on the back of the mic.
- Open Sonarworks' downloads page, go to Measurement microphone profile downloads, enter the ID and press Download profile.
- A ZIP downloads. Inside are Sonarworks' own profiles plus three plain-text ones: 0°, 30° and 90°.

Dayton measures every EMM-6 and files it under the serial number.
- Find the serial number on the base of the mic.
- Open Dayton's Microphone Calibration Tool, choose model EMM-6 and enter the serial.
- Your calibration file downloads. One plain-text file.

There is no file to download.
Behringer doesn't measure each ECM8000 individually.
Pick Behringer ECM8000 in the app's mic list and Clearroom uses a typical ECM8000 curve instead. Your correction still works. The session's confidence score comes out lower.

Any measurement mic works. In the app's mic list choose Other calibrated mic and import your file: .txt or .cal, and the 90° (pointing-up) one if your vendor offers angles.
No file at all? Choose I don't have a calibration file and carry on. Correction stays safe, fine accuracy in the highs is reduced, and your confidence score says so. You can add a file later.
What a calibration file looks like
A plain-text list: one frequency and one dB value per line.

20000.0 -3.1Left column: frequency in Hz. Right column: how many dB your mic is off there. That is the whole file.
Clearroom reads the common vendor formats, and the awkward ones too. Decimal commas, unit suffixes, header lines. When a file won't load it is usually not a calibration file at all: a PDF certificate, a spreadsheet, or a screenshot of one.

One rule that can't wait: Clearroom Audio is an output. Never pick it as an input or microphone (Zoom, QuickTime, OBS) — a second reader breaks the correction.
